Sabetta is an international airport of federal significance on the Yamal Peninsula off the coast of the Gulf of Ob near the shift camp of the same name in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of Russia.
The operator of the airport is Sabetta International Airport LLC. The airport is a strategic facility for the implementation of the large-scale Yamal LNG project.
History
- In 2013, the airport began to receive cargo planes
- On December 4, 2014, the first UTair Boeing 737 passenger plane landed at the airport, making a technical flight. On February 2, 2015, the airport began serving rotational air transportation of the Yamal LNG project.
- On July 17, 2015, a certificate of conformity for airport activities (complex certificate) was received, the airport was included in the State Register of Airports of the Russian Federation.
- On October 5, 2015, the certificate of the Interstate Aviation Committee was received, according to which the airfield was recognized as suitable for international flights.
- On December 24, 2015, the final meeting of the interdepartmental commission was held for the opening of an air cargo-passenger multilateral checkpoint operating on an irregular basis across the state border of the Russian Federation, at which it was found that the Sabetta checkpoint meets the requirements for the construction, reconstruction, equipment and technical equipment of buildings, premises and structures necessary for organizing border, customs and other types of control carried out at checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation.
- On March 4, 2016, the first international flight was accepted.
- On February 8, 2017, within the framework of the IV National Exhibition of Civil Aviation Infrastructure, the awarding of the best airports and airlines, laureates and winners of the Air Gates of Russia and the Skyway Service Award took place. Sabetta International Airport became the winner in the Best Airport 2016 nomination (in the Regional Airport category, less than 0.5 million passengers per year.
- On May 23, 2017, by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, the airport was given the name Sabetta.
Specifications
The airport complex includes an airfield that meets the requirements of ICAO category I, a runway measuring 2,704 × 46 m, an aircraft hangar, and an air terminal with a capacity of 200 passengers per hour, including the international sector for 50 passengers per hour.
Accepted aircraft types
The airport is able to receive Il-76 aircraft, A-320, Boeing-737, Boeing 767-200, Sukhoi Superjet 100 and lighter aircraft, as well as helicopters of all types. On January 22, 2017, the largest serial cargo aircraft in the world An-124 Ruslan landed at the Sabetta airport.
