The main problem of the current state of the airport is the almost complete absence of any ground infrastructure, worn—out equipment, and the need for runway reconstruction. The reconstruction of the airport is included in the Federal Program for the Development of Transport in 2018-2020. It is planned to allocate 3135.8 million rubles from budgets of all levels.

In 2017, the government of the Bryansk Region decided to allocate about 300 million rubles to repay the airport's debts and current activities. Of these, about 90 million were spent on the missing equipment. We bought: an aircraft toilet cleaning machine, a KDM (combined road vehicle), a front loader, a new ladder. The money was also spent on the current repair of the runway, which took place in two stages: repair of the runway coating and repair of interplate seams. By the end of the year, the governor of the Bryansk region announced the full repayment of the airport's debts.

It is planned to spend about 200 million rubles in 2018. Of these, 60 million will be spent on the reconstruction of the airport complex. From November 2017 to March 2018, Bryansk Airport must undergo a full inspection by the Aeroproject Institute with the issuance of a technical specification for the reconstruction project.

In 2019, the experts of the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia approved a plan for the reconstruction of the Bryansk airport complex, which provides for two stages. At the first stage, it is planned to reconstruct part of the passenger platform, a drainage network, local sewage treatment plants, a patrol road, sections of intraport roads and fencing of the territory. At the second stage, the reconstruction of the runway with artificial turf, taxiways, lighting and radio equipment of the airfield, cargo apron will be carried out. Work will also continue on the reconstruction of the passenger platform, the drainage network and the inner-port roads.

The current repair of the terminal building was carried out.

Special equipment has been purchased for passenger and aircraft maintenance (ladder, belt loader of luggage, luggage trolleys, installation of air launch of aircraft engines).
